The English Wine Festival is held each year. Many vineyards exhibit their English Wine at
the English Wine Festival. Please click here for a report on the

English Wine has come a long way. Not a huge quantity of wine is made in England but what is made is these days very good.
English Wine hasn't always had a good reputation but that's because in the early days it
was a bit of a lottery - some English Wine was very good, some wasn't.
English Wine made by the traditional Champagne method rivals top French Champagne. Makers
have spared no expense - most are very rich men (or at least were before they started in the
wine business!) and have lavished nothing but the best on their sparkling English wines.
An increasing amount of red wine is now made in England. Global warming, specially bred
vine varieties, better vineyard husbandry and modern winemaking techniques combine to make
English red wine very palatable. English red wine will probably never match the intense,
powerful reds of the Rhone or Australia - we just don't have that much heat - but the tasty,
spicey, lighter English red wine will not disappoint.
